DIGITAL TRAINING GUIDES WITH AR REDUCE ONBOARDING TIME BY 50%
– Reduce human error and scrap to deliver high-quality products
– 50% faster training compared to paper-based Operating Procedures
– Align operator performance to maximize efficiency

CHALLENGE
SIMPLIFY COMPLEX OPERATING PROCEDURES TO REDUCE ERROR AND ENSURE QUALITY
The accurate assembly of medical devices requires a high level of precision and exact compliance with Operating Procedures (OPs) in a sterile working environment. Global medical technology leader and device manufacturer Medtronic found that complex OPs lack user-friendly and clear instructional guidance for the manufacturing specialists.

In the manufacturing process of EPIX catheter-based systems, paper- and text-based assembly guides make the onboarding experience of new operators a time-consuming process. To minimize human error and deliver high-quality products, Medtronic was looking for a solution to improve the training and production floor guidance of its EPIX operators.
“The digital training guides built in REFLEKT ONE speed up our onboarding process by 50%. Operators now only need half the time to familiarize themselves with new OPs compared to training with paper-based instructions.”
– Peter Tortorici, Senior Engineering Manager, Medtronic

SOLUTION
IMMERSIVE AR GUIDES FOR 50% FASTER TRAINING AND SMOOTH OPERATIONS
To speed up training and provide EPIX operators on the manufacturing floor with clear instructions, Medtronic builds their AR guides on the AR content creation platform REFLEKT ONE. Each guide transforms the most crucial OPs into visual AR animations, accompanied by step-by-step instructions, videos, images and quality control features.

The operator can perform a procedure such as soldering or proof and leak testing by walking through each step on a tablet or other mobile device. In addition to immersive animations that visually show how to perform an action, the operator is provided with an equipment requirements checklist and safety instructions in the immersive guide.
Using AR technology allows Medtronic to simplify their OPs and make them available to the operator instantly. At the right place, at the right time, on the right device.
