The Challenge
FlixBus, a young mobility provider of Europe’s largest long-distance bus network for over 100 million people since 2013, was searching for a low-cost but high-engagement entertainment solution with easy logistic for their operation to further differentiate themselves from their competition and contribute to their perception as a leading innovator.
The Solution
Following the success of the deployment of Virtual Reality headsets on bus routes in the United States, FlixBus Europe started providing 15 self-explanatory VR kits free of charge for the passengers on several routes between Spain and France. Inflight VR used the aviation-approved platform and only needed to adapt the solution slightly to account for the bus environment.
The Outcome
The Inflight VR bus solution worked well in terms of applicability to the usage on the road. A very strong comfort rating diminished the concerns with respect to VR in relatively fast changing environmental parameters in a bus. FlixBus is working on process changes and incentives to further drive product adoption.
“Virtual Reality is one of the emerging technologies with the most potential at present. FlixBus has innovated in the world of transport from the moment it was born as a company, 6 years ago, and offering immersive virtual reality entertainment is another step in our desire to put technology at the service of our customers. Our collaboration with Inflight VR and its customized solution surprised our passengers and made them enjoy the trip even more.”
