SAESL–Singapore Aero Engine Services Private Limited- is the world’s largest Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility for in Rolls-Royce Trent aircraft engines– specializing in both engine overhaul and component repair services. The company’s strong business growth has led to rapid expansion of their facilities and headcount.
Safety and quality are SAESL’s highest priority. Ensuring the integrity of customers’ engines and components is critical in aviation so SAESL is constantly evaluating new methods to supervise, manage and train repair technicians. When SAESL executives met the Klatt Works team they realized the value in KW’s MX Accelerator and tapped KW to develop a suite of programs.
SAESL management team outlined three main areas to be supported. Klatt Works leveraged MX Accelerator, a complete hands-free solution consisting of a headworn display, visualizations of company specific checklists, procedures and videos and real time remote assistance.
The first use case is quality assurance. MX Accelerator is ideal for in-process inspections, digitizing records, documentation and collaboration with subject matter experts.
Second is final inspection during client handoff—the process documents the completed maintenance and repairs and underscores safety checks and quality of workmanship.
Training is third. Before MX Accelerator it could take 6 months to 2 years to completely train an SAESL MRO technician. The goal is to collapse training time overall and specifically speed up the time it takes a worker trained on one engine variant to become proficient on multiple configurations.
Klatt Work’s MX Accelerator deliverables align perfectly with SAESL’s goals—from hands-free operation, over the shoulder guidance, documentation and digitalization to easy content creation from existing collateral.
SAESL and Klatt Works have initiated a pilot program to establish MX Accelerator’s success. To date the solution has delivered on all interim goals and is rapidly moving to full deployment.
