Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) is a critical training for anyone who boards operational helicopters.
Normally this training takes place in a purpose-built pool and requires specialist equipment and costly operational expenditures.
By creating a complete environment in Virtual Reality with the different challenges and demands of this critical situation we can train people on this scenario in an effective and affordable manner.
This was a very exciting project for Line Creative to create as they love the context and attempted to use this VR experience as POC for dry (VR) training complementing the real wet one.
People all over the world who perform jobs over waters involving heli transport take this training in specialised regulated facilities. The potential benefits of having a VR experience to complement this training is significant in terms of resources management.
The client pushing this initiative is a private sector rescue company who has large corporate clients who would be interested to see how this poc can be developed.
In terms of CG infrastructure and pipeline, Line Creative used UE4 for complete development of the game, assets created in 3dsmax. Line Creative did not follow an exact protocol as this is only a poc at present for clients to grasp and follow up on further development assessment.
