PERIODIC TABLE OF ELEMENTS (AR)
OBJECTIVE
- To celebrate 150 years of the periodic table ANSTO wanted to create an AR experience that leverages the redesign of their periodic table.
- Designing an educational and engaging learning tool that encourages students to learn all about the Periodic Table and it’s importance in everyday life.
- A handful of AR to leap out of the device that shows you the real world uses of each element.
- With a physical ANSTO wall mounted or pocket sized periodic table, users can understand how useful these elements are to science and industry in the 21st century.
EXECUTION
- Released for the start of National Science Week.
- The ANSTO XR app is downloadable on iOS and Android.
- Allows students to explore the elements that ANSTO work with on a daily basis in a fun and exciting way.
- With the latest AR technology users can use the ANSTO periodic table as a marker which will then come to life with 3D elements popping out of the screen.
- By clicking on an element users get to see the protons and neutrons spinning around the nucleus as if it were actually there.
- Creates a more indepth learning experience for both student and teacher.
INSIDE OPAL (VR)
OBJECTIVE
- To create an engaging and insightful VR experience that allows users to take a deep dive inside Australia’s only multipurpose reactor.
- A marketing and communication initiative to make the public aware of all the incredible work that’s undertaken at ANSTO.
- A virtual immersive experience that is available on the Oculus Go headset, showcased for events and activations across Australia.
- An educational experience for schools and public places that aims to enlighten users to the advancements that have been made in Nuclear Technology at Australia’s only multi-purpose reactor.
EXECUTION
- The ANSTO XR app is downloadable on iOS and Android.
- Launched for the start of National Science Week.
- Unrestricted access to the OPAL (Open Pool Australian Lightwater) reactor takes the user on 3 possible journeys of the neutron. With never before seen footage of the reactor floor, as well as a guided tour of some of its key features.
- Inside the OPAL will let you explore in great detail the properties of this great subatomic particle and how we use it in everyday life.
- Learn the usages of the neutron in everyday life by being immersed in a virtual tour that will take the user on the journey of science and industry.
