David Cleverdon – 360 Immersive
ABOUT: I have been in the production marketing industry since the mid-80s. This includes video production, motion graphics, web development, app development, training, and trade show support. I have always believed technology could bring something new to our clients and built my first website in 1994. Around the same time, I developed flash-based CD-ROM presentations that trained Hewlett-Packard employees within HP’s printer and mass storage divisions. When VR became commercially available in December 2014, I felt it was a real opportunity to look at a new form of storytelling that could immerse somebody in a specific message or idea. Movies, TV, training presentation (generally supported by PowerPoint): these are all passive experiences…and virtual reality allowed us to engage a viewer in an active immersive experience. To me it was a real game changer.

Castello: Sensations VR
Cheese tastes better in VR
Castello and Mother wanted to take cheese tasting to the next level – UNIT9 always likes a challenge. UNIT9 decided to create the ultimate taste test in VR combining neuroscience and technology. Using research of how tasting can be enhanced by multi-sensory experiences, we delivered a fully interactive, visually stimulating mixed reality experience. With creamy Castello cheese. Yum.

Hermès: Hors Les Murs
A Stunning VR Experience Explores the First Crystal Maker in Continental Europe
From November 18th – 26th, 2016, Le Carreau du Temple in Paris hosted “Hermès hors les murs,” an itinerant celebration of craftsmanship. At the event, first established in 2011, artisans from ten Hermès métiers met the public and share their expertise, experience and passion.
The craftspeople at one particular workshop stood out, and their story was waiting to be told. UNIT9 created a VR experience that brought to life the inner workings of Saint-Louis—the first crystal maker in continental Europe

Ford: The Psychology of Performance
The Psychology of Performance
The Psychology of Performance is a collaborative research project between UNIT9, King’s College London and Ford Performance, investigating the effects of high-performance race car driving on the brain. The hypothesis is that by understanding professional race car drivers’ mental capacity, we can learn how to better perform in other challenging real life situations. And by training ourselves to adopt such a high-performance mindset, we can better cope.
So working with Ford Performance – the motorsport branch of the US car maker – UNIT9 and and King’s College London teamed up with OATH and Mindshare to develop a top-of-the-range EEG brain scanner to carry out an experimental study.

Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET)
Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) is a critical training for anyone who boards operational helicopters.
Normally this training takes place in a purpose-built pool and requires specialist equipment and costly operational expenditures.
By creating a complete environment in Virtual Reality with the different challenges and demands of this critical situation we can train people on this scenario in an effective and affordable manner.

Health & Safety VR Training
VR Training is already being used by military, emergency services and armed forces, as well as growing numbers of manufacturing, energy, infrastructure and facilities companies. Popular uses include incident simulation, risk & environment simulations, critical procedural scenarios, training testing & auditing, CPD and multiplayer scenarios.
