PGA – Hole in 360°
For their PGA sponsorship, Samsung was looking to create a never-before-seen VR experience for golf fans. Samsung wanted to build an experience that would take virtual reality on their Gear VR platform to the next level by implementing the principles of storytelling, cinematography, and interactivity. In addition to the VR experience, a live ‘social wall’ was set up that displayed guests Twitter, Facebook and Instagram feeds as they related to the event.

Lifehouse VR Treatment Trial
Lifehouse VR treatment: Start VR spearheaded a collaboration with Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Samsung Australia to bring virtual reality experiences to patients undergoing chemotherapy. The aim was to use VR as “distraction therapy”, a means of easing the psychological and physical distress often associated with undergoing chemotherapy. More broadly, the Lifehouse VR Treatment Trial had, as its object, to explore the application of VR in a healthcare setting.

Robert Watts and Matthew Celia – Light Sail VR
How did you guys get into VR?
– We’ve each been in the entertainment industry for the last ten years. We met in film school at Chapman University in Orange County, and have been friends even since. Matt has been in production and post-production for both commercial and studio clients, and Robert went the agency/representation route from William Morris Endeavor to Heroes and Villains Entertainment, a trans-media Management and Production Company. We re-connected when we were selling Matt’s documentary in the reality, digital and new media space. We started geeking out over VR and we realized we needed to get into this exciting new medium immediately. Thus, we opened Light Sail VR in December of 2015.

Christophe Mallet – Somewhere Else
ABOUT: Adopted Londoner from Paris, Christophe co-founded Somewhere Else after 8 years spent here between digital strategy consultancy and music events. For a proud geek fascinated by tech and storytelling of all kinds, VR came as a revelation: a new medium in its own right with a visceral and emotional impact like none before. Somewhere Else was built from that overarching philosophy: exploring new ways to tell stories to build deeper, enjoyable relationships between brands and their audiences.

Jae Hoon Park – PlayVR
ABOUT: We have been working on VR business since 2015 before VR attracted public attention. Over the past two years, we have been involved in VR contents production and rental business. We have accumulated a lot of know-how and focused attention on what distinguishes VR from existing contents and events, and which is our strength among others. We pursue both simulations and economics at the same time by using VR. One of our goals is to imitate behaviors that have temporal and spatial limitations in reality in a VR environment, thereby achieving more cost-effective results than reality. It might mean we concentrate on utility that VR gives to humans rather than technology. As a VR Integral Service company, we apply VR technology to existing services and technologies, pursuing integration with VR. Currently, we focus on content for “public relations” and “education” services and we will keep challenging so as to help people throughout industry and services in the future.

Alex Meader & Connor Hair – Perception Squared
ABOUT: These two self proclaimed “super nerds” met in film school and have been working together ever since. Passionate about storytelling and the power it has to change the world, they enjoy geeking out about art, film, science fiction and space travel. Motto: “We believe life is complicated, and doesn’t always have easy answers, and that stories should be the same way.”
